Breweries Big and Small Help Hurricane Florence Relief With Water Donations

Hurricane Florence is starting to hit the North Carolina coast, and beer is here to help.
Big Beer is sending a combined 500,000 cans of emergency drinking water to areas expecting to be hit. So far, Anheuser-Busch sent six truckloads , or about 300,000 cans, to local wholesalers in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia; and Miller Coors sent 200,000 cans, reports Delmarva Now, part of the USA Today Network. Both companies are donating through the American Red Cross.

East Coast Breweries Brace for Hurricane Florence

Several beer companies throughout North and South Carolina have temporarily halted operations in preparation for Hurricane Florence, which is set to make landfall over the next 24 hours, bringing with it wind gusts exceeding 74 mph and days of storm surges, flooding and double-digit rainfall.
States of emergency have been declared in the Carolinas, and the governors in those states have urged more than 1 million residents of coastal towns to evacuate. Georgia, Virginia and Maryland have also issued emergency orders.
